Broadband Speed rate

OECD Fixed broadband subscriptions per speed tiers

This histogram shows the distribution of broadband subscribers per 100 inhabitants in OECD countries, by speed (<30Mbps, ≥30Mbps to <100Mbps, ≥100Mbps to <1Gbps, ≥1Gbps) in mid-2024. South Korea tops the ranking with 39% of connections at ≥ 100Mbps to <1Gbps and 6.5% at ≥ 1Gbps, followed by Switzerland with 27.8% of connections at ≥ 100Mbps to <1Gbps and 12.4% at ≥ 1Gbps. Details are not available for some countries (France, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Israel), and therefore neither is the average for OECD countries.

By international standards, Switzerland remains one of the best networked countries, with both a high broadband penetration rate and ever higher data transfer rates for its users.

For many years, Switzerland has been at the top of the OECD rankings for broadband connections provided using various technologies (copper, TV cable, fibre optics).

Furthermore, since 1 September 2021 the major providers in Switzerland have offered customers a standardised tool to measure the quality of their own internet access. This is available at www.networktest.ch and in the app shops for mobile devices.
