This histogram shows the distribution of broadband subscribers per 100 inhabitants in OECD countries, by speed (<30 Mbps, ≥30 Mbps to <100 Mbps, ≥100 Mbps to <1 Gbps, ≥1 Gbps) as of the end of 2024. South Korea tops the ranking with 39.1% of connections at ≥100 Mbps to <1 Gbps and 7.1% at ≥1 Gbps, followed by France with 6.7% of connections at ≥100 Mbps to <1 Gbps and 29.4% at ≥1 Gbps. Switzerland ranks fourth with 27.7% of connections at ≥ 100 Mbps to <1 Gbps and 13.7% at ≥ 1 Gbps. Detailed data is not available for certain countries (United Kingdom, Japan, New Zealand). The average for OECD countries (with 36.5% of fixed broadband connections per 100 inhabitants) stands at 21.9% of connections at ≥ 100 Mbps to <1 Gbps and 8.5% at ≥ 1 Gbps.

By international standards, Switzerland remains one of the best networked countries, with both a high broadband penetration rate and ever higher data transfer rates for its users.

For many years, Switzerland has been at the top of the OECD rankings for broadband connections provided using various technologies (copper, TV cable, fibre optics).

Furthermore, since 1 September 2021 the major providers in Switzerland have offered customers a standardised tool to measure the quality of their own internet access. This is available at www.networktest.ch and in the app shops for mobile devices.
